Education: BA of Visual Arts, MA in Law Sciences

Nina Kurnik (1987) uses interdisciplinary approaches in her work. The combination of painting and illustration, design and photography represent a significant style of expression.

In 2016 Nina graduated in painting and modern visual practices, and in 2013 at the University of Law.

An unusual combination of education and experience – on the one hand from the “old school” studios of experienced painters, and on the other with studies in the field of contemporary visual practices.

The combination of the above and digital media has brought a profession that has not been known for decades, interdisciplinarity is reflected in all aspects of work.

Nina Kurnik is an independent designer and illustrator, expert in visual creative strategies in the field of communications, active in artistic fields and multimedia.

Creative and innovative communication strategies are built by connecting the two fields – humanistic sciences on one hand and visual arts on the other.

Among the most prominent projects are graphic and content creation solutions in communication tourism in cooperation with the Slovenian Tourist Board @feelslovenia Storytelling (2018 -), graphic images of national campaigns “Two million reasons why we feel Slovenia” (2018) and a Slovenian campaign to promote tourism in Slovenia “Zdaj je čas, Moja Slovenija” (2020), the visual digital presence and digital sales space and communication of the Austrian Bevog Brewery (2016 -), illustrations “on show” at Ljubljana Fashion Week (2017, 2018, 2019), illustrations for Italian company Max Mara (2019), graphic design and illustrations for the line of tempera and drawing supplies Aero (2017), collaboration with manufacturers of art accessories Brevillier – Cretacolor and many other projects.

Illustrations, photographs and other visuals have been published in a number of high-profile domestic and foreign media, blogs and other platforms, including Falstaff magazine, Discover Germany; Elle Slovenia, several projects that have already been built with international awards, such as the Gold for Multimedia Innovation, for an innovative digital approach to Instagram @feelslovenia users at ITB Berlin; Golden City Gate 2019

Eternal aesthetics

is written in everyone's eyes, it doesn't take talent.

Her beloved artistic expressions are drawings of charcoal figures in large format, research into the anatomy of the human figure through drawing, and the development of handwriting typography and illustration on digital media.

Through the perception of the visual and aesthetics, Nina Kurnik’s digital works also flirt with the practices and eternal aesthetics of past centuries, while taking into account the technological flow of today.
